A Commitment to Yourself This Summer

Moms spend so much time thinking about what everyone else needs.

We schedule appointments, camps, activities, playdates, vacations, and everything required to keep our families moving. We make sure everyone has what they need, often before we even pause to ask what we need.

So, take a moment and ask yourself:

What have I done lately simply because I wanted to?

Not because it was productive.
Not because someone else needed it.
Not because it checked something off the list.

What have you done purely for your own joy, happiness, peace, energy, or fulfillment?

Maybe you want to take a long walk without rushing home. Spend an afternoon reading. Try a new class. Meet a friend for dinner. Sit near the water. Visit a place you have always wanted to explore. Spend time creating, resting, moving, laughing, or doing absolutely nothing.

Your answer does not have to be big or impressive. It only needs to feel like you.

Summer can fill quickly. Before you know it, the open spaces disappear beneath everyone else’s plans and priorities. This is your invitation to claim some of that space now.

Choose something you want to experience this summer and add it to your calendar. Pick the date. Protect the time. Make the reservation. Invite the friend or decide to go alone.

Treat this commitment with the same care you give to the people you love.

You do not need to earn time for yourself. You do not need a more important reason. Joy is a reason. Rest is a reason. Curiosity is a reason. Wanting something is a reason.

Put yourself on the calendar.

Make the commitment to you.

You deserve it.
